I tried the plate with a fourth grade student. I had him do just
a simple timed multiplication drill (2.04), then I had him trace the
design with both hands. Lastly, I had him do the timed drill again
(1.03). It’s a small thing, but he cut his time in half after doing
the activity. I’m not really all that big on timing people on things,
but I think it is a good demonstration of the potential. Plus, he had
fun.
